Become a Postpartum Doula

Are you looking for a rewarding career helping new families?

Are you a Birth Doula looking to broaden your skills and knowledge in serving new families?

Are you called to help parents transition into their new roles as gently as possible?

Are you looking for a new and fulfilling career working with new mothers and families during such an intense and vulnerable time?

Are you looking for a holistic postpartum doula training based on honouring the new mother?

Are you looking for a training that also focusses on the business side of being a postpartum doula so you can start signing clients and running a profitable business?

Now, more than ever, families need non-judgmental support

to help them navigate those first few months after baby’s arrival.

A Postpartum Doula helps families as they settle into their new roles as parents. This help varies depending on the needs of each client. So what does a day in the life of a Postpartum Doula look like?

Some days we are required to sit and listen, or answer questions. Other days, we provide assistance with breastfeeding, or we prepare a nutritious meal. If we are very hands-on, we offer a massage for baby or for the mom. We often care for baby while parents get some well-deserved rest.

‘One of the most memorable moments during my Postpartum Doula career was when the entire family managed to sleep for the afternoon – parents snuggled in their room, and the twins on me in the carrier!’

– Jenny Berthiaume

Our Bilingual Postpartum Doula Training includes the following topics:

As a Postpartum Doula, you will be called to listen to a mother’s birth story – with knowledge of birth, you will be able to support her as she processes the experience as well as help her heal emotionally and physically.

Many clients will request your help when it comes to feeding their babies. We will discuss all ways of feeding baby, including breastfeeding, pumping, formula, and bottle feeding. We will also discuss helping parents of multiples.

As much of the work you do is with newborns, it’s important for the Postpartum Doula to know about caring for baby and understanding the latest guidelines. We’ll discuss sleep patterns, bathing, umbilical cord care, baby wearing, swaddling, and more!

The new mother and family need as much nourishment and love as possible during this vulnerable and beautiful time. Jenny Berthiaume will share her wisdom about the Ayurvedic way of healing the mother and baby through massage and nutrition. We will also discuss birth story listening, ways of helping families through postpartum depression, and provide resources to help your clients as much as possible.

Many people become Doulas because they are passionate about helping new families. But they have NO business experience! We want you to have a successful and profitable Doula practice so you can continue serving your community for years to come. Sylvia Otvos has an MBA and runs two successful businesses and will share her business knowledge with you!
